SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee and manage
daily performance of Oil Plant, Boilers and Dispatch sections. These Team Leader shall work with
the current Section Head to ensure a proper transfer of basic skills and product knowledge within
the respective area of responsibility.

SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee and manage
daily performance of Oil Plant, Boilers and Dispatch sections. These Team Leader shall work with
the current Section Head to ensure a proper transfer of basic skills and product knowledge within
the respective area of responsibility.
The incumbent will be responsible for operational management assistance to the Section Head in
order to achieve planned targets and ensure effective use of available resources within the
Production environment. He/she will be accountable for but not limited to quality objectives within
own section, maintain health, safety, environmental and housekeeping standards and control of
expenditure within budget requirements. The successful candidate will implement best practice in
the workplace, develop and implement production plans.
Tasks
- Plan, organise, manage (supervise) and control work performed by the team – people, materials and other resources
- Ensure the team manning and materials are adequate and available as per production plan to meet production targets.
- Supervise, lead and develop the team engaged in winding manufacture and assembly to ensure suitable competencies and resources for continuous production to achieve production targets (quality and throughput) at all times, including training
- Directs workers or participates in adjusting machines or equipment.
- Ensure clear and timeous communication to direct production team and all supporting departments (quality, HSE, supply chain, engineering, etc.)
- Perform continuous roaming inspections on production floor to inspect finished or in process parts, visually or using electrical test equipment to determine conformance to specifications and oversee operators performing activities according to method provisions,
work instructions and quality standards. - Ensure compliance and adherence to quality and HSE standards and policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12/Matric with a post graduate qualification (degree or diploma), preferably within the science and engineering or production fields of study.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in transformer manufacturing winding.
- Direct experience of transformer winding manufacture with knowledge and experience of test methods and specifications, and quality standards.
- Ability and skill to read and interpret drawings and quality requirements.
